018: Putting People First | Dale Partridge | ‘People Over Profit’

Capitalism as we know it is on its way out.

I happened to be reading this episode’s featured book when The New York Times published its scathing expose on Amazon’s questionable work and hiring practices.

The United States’ newspaper of record was presenting a troubling problem in corporate America, and Dale Partridge’s ‘People Over Profit’ was outlining an inspiring solution.

It was a marriage of ideas that I couldn’t ignore.

Amid the flurry of pro/anti responses to NYT’s piece, I want to be a voice of big-picture reason, to put Amazon’s struggles and behaviors in a broader context, to lift us out of the blame game.

Dale’s book also happens to be a wonderful companion for any consumer, entrepreneur or change agent who wants to play the capitalistic game by more compassionate rules. There is no trade off between humanity and profit. In fact, evidence grows by the day to support the fact that humanity actually fuels higher profits, higher customer satisfaction and greater sustainability. And THAT is music to any capitalist’s ears.
